Bazaars of Old Delhi - Continuity and Change
Outside Red Fort Metro Station (Exit Gate No.1) near Jain Mandir
You will be commuted through a rickshaw tour in which you will get to see all the famous bazaars of old Delhi like Khas Bazaar, Faiz Bazaar (Dariya Ganj), Urdu Bazaar, Chawri Bazaar, Lal Kuan Bazaar (Hauz Qazi), Khari Baoli, Chandni Chowk and Kinari Bazar. The tour will give you an idea of how shops were portrayed as metaphor for an elementary instrument of exchange, but open for longer hours and providing both, luxurious and necessities of life and also tracing continuity and change. We finally end the tour at the Red Fort metro station.
Yasir Anwar's Profile
Yasir Anwar was born in Old Delhi and grew up seeing continuity and change around the city. He undertook his graduate degree in History Honors from Zakir Hussain College, University of Delhi and Masters in Archaeology and Heritage Management from Delhi Institute of Heritage Research and Management, Indraprastha University. He has been involved in several Museums, Art Galleries and Art and Cultural Organizations for over 6 years. He worked as Curatorial Assistant at Mehrangarh Museum, Jodhpur, Rajasthan where he carried out research on Museum collection, led guided tours and also conducted education and outreach programs. Presently he works as Research Assistant at the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts under the project "National Cultural Audiovisual Archives and undertakes guided walks around the walled city showing off its treasures.
